If we didn’t answer your question here or you need clarification please shoot us a message.
1) How many customers do you take on for each trip?
10. Yes, only 10 people per trip! By keeping the excursions super small, you’ll have a more personalized experience and have all your questions answered by the winemakers, chefs, and guides.
2) What time do we get started in the morning? How about finish up?
Our trips are customized to show you what you came for but still leave you plenty of time to explore and relax on your own. The days begin around 9am each morning and conclude around 5pm, to give you plenty of time before dinner plans later, so you can explore or nap (hey, you’re on vacation). You also have 1 afternoon and evening on your own. There are also two mornings in-which we have multiple choices for adventures, so you can choose to join in on those excursions or go shopping or relax! If you’d like some guidance on what to check out on your own, we know all the local spots… and we’d be happy to let you in on the secrets.
3) What sort of people go on your tours?
We attract the kind of people who enjoy a balanced vacation between relaxation and recreation. Most of our customers book with us because they are looking for the most authentic experience they can find.
4) Can you handle dietary restrictions?
Yes! Just let us know upon sign-up of your medical restrictions and we’ll make sure to provide you with tasty alternatives during our picnics or private dinners. When it comes to restaurants, we dine at restaurants with a wide range of options. With that said, we will always let the staff know in advance about any dietary restrictions you may have so they will be prepared.
5) Do you take care of all the tedious planning? (including pre/post trip)
Yes! From the moment the trip begins to when it finishes, we have you covered. We would also be happy to book your pre and post trip lodging or dinner reservations, as well as airport transportation and car rental.
6) How much should we tip our guide?
Nothing! Unlike almost all other wine tour companies, tips are not encouraged, nor accepted. We pride ourselves on taking great care of you.
7) Can we choose the wineries/restaurants we want to visit?
It depends. When booking one of our pre-dated tours, we have already worked directly with the best wineries and restaurants in the region to set up personalized tastings, tours and dinners. If you have booked a custom individual group tour, then we will work with you to choose your wineries and restaurants if that is what you would like. During our pre-dated tours, you will have a night on your own to enjoy dinner at whatever restaurant you fancy.
8) Can I purchase wine/souvenirs along my journey?
We have plenty of room in our vehicle for all your purchases. If you purchase bulk wine or a Wine Club membership, the winery will ship these items to your home.
9) How old do I need to be to take part in the tours?
We didn’t make the rule, but the legal drinking age in the U.S.A. is 21. As our trips at Discover the East all take place within wineries, we cannot legally take on clients under 21.
1) What is included in the price?
Fine Dining for Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner (minus 1 night to enjoy on your own), Gourmet Snacks and Water, Up-scale Lodging in Quaint B&Bs or Inns, All Winery Tasting & Tour Fees, Museum or Other Attraction Fees, Transportation in Luxury Small Vans, Kayak and Bike Rentals. You are responsible for your discretionary purchases, alcohol with meals other than the wine provided, and transportation to and from the airport.
2) What’s your payment policy?
Upon trip registration, there is a $750 deposit to hold your space. This guarantees you the price that was stated at the time of your deposit. 90 days prior we ask for the remaining amount, which will be charged to the credit card on file, unless other payment arrangements have been made. If you book within 90 days of the trip departure, the full payment including deposit is due at that time. Travel credits cannot be used for the deposit and will be used towards the final payment. We reserve the right to decline a reservation to anyone whose health or behavior could inhibit or harm our other guests’ experiences.
3) What is your cancellation policy?
Things come up, we understand. We’ve all been there. But I’m sure you understand that we have to pay our bills too. Because of this, we always encourage our customers to purchase trip insurance. Our very lenient industry cancellation policy is as follows:
Previous to 90 days prior: By now we have put your lodging deposit down on our end, so a $500 fee will be deducted from your original deposit.
Between 45 days and 90 days prior: By now, we have had to put down the final deposits on your lodging and some of the excursion as well. We offer a 65% refund for cancellations in this period.
Within 45 days: By now we have had to pay all of our expenses for your travel, and thus within 45 days we cannot offer any refund. We will however transfer 35% of your total payment towards a booking within one year from your original planned trip departure.
